East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) to join our healthcare team. This is a fixed-term, full-time position offering a competitive salary range of £61,542 to £99,216 per annum. Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead specific duties as part of the development of a multi-disciplinary team approach to care within the ENT specialty. You will be expected to have a broad range of general ENT experience and will be based at one primary site while working cross-site and undertaking regular sessions at both Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital. Your responsibilities will include theatre work, pre/post-operative ward rounds, out-patient clinic sessions, and other duties as outlined in the job description.
Daily Responsibilities
As a Specialty Doctor in ENT, your daily responsibilities will include theatre sessions, pre and post-operative ward rounds, and out-patient clinic work. You will work a 1:6 activity ratio with non-resident on-call duties. The position includes 4 hours of administrative work and 4 hours of SPA (specialty protected time) per week, ensuring you have dedicated time for professional development and administrative tasks.
Person Specification
We are looking for candidates who meet the following essential criteria and possess the necessary qualifications and experience to excel in this role.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must hold MB BS or equivalent medical degree and Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practice is essential. Additionally, candidates must have completed at least four years of full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent part-time/flexible training), with at least two years in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee.
Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, an MD degree or equivalent BSE accreditation would be considered advantageous for this position. Candidates with additional qualifications or specializations within the ENT field are encouraged to apply.
Essential Experience
Candidates must demonstrate wide experience in all aspects of Ear, Nose and Throat medicine. You should have practical experience in both clinical and surgical settings, with the ability to work independently as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience in managing complex ENT cases and providing emergency cover is desirable.
