About the Role
We are recruiting for a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Bath & NE Somerset (BANES) Community CAMHS Team where you will have an active leadership role and medical responsibility for the diagnosis, management, and treatment of children, adolescents, and families. With your expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, you’ll join our Getting More Help multi-disciplinary team (MDT) working in close liaison with our Getting Help team.
Key Responsibilities
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will attend regular MDTs and provide clinical leadership and medical input to the team. You will have responsibility for patients seen by yourself and those seen by medical staff directly supervised by you. You will work in partnership within the multidisciplinary team for the clinical management of patients, including risk assessment, the assessment of carers’ needs, and service development.
Person Specification – Qualifications
Essential qualifications include eligibility for Section 12 (Mental Health Act 1983) Approval and Approved Clinician status, and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Registrar in a psychiatric speciality (or within six months of achieving registration at the time of interview). Desirable qualifications include higher degrees/diplomas in relevant fields, specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Membership/Fellowship of The Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Person Specification – Experience
Essential experience includes excellent knowledge in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, experience of effective multidisciplinary team working, multiagency partnerships, management of children with complex needs, and familiarity with UK health systems and CAMHS services. Desirable experience includes application of evidence-based practice, development of multidisciplinary teamwork, and high training placement in Adolescent Psychiatry.
Required Skills and Knowledge
You must demonstrate ability to work within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework, excellent communication skills with patients and colleagues, experience in undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching, supervisory skills, and a genuine interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Honesty, integrity, and flexibility to cope with service changes are essential.
Professional Requirements
Applicants must have full GMC registration and meet specifications set out in the General Medical Council guidelines. You must be independently mobile to travel between base and clinic sites. The Trust will support obtaining Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status if required.

Our Getting More Help team operates alongside our Getting Help team, which functions as a single point of access for CAMHS, screening referrals from GPs, Paediatricians, Education, and Social Services.
