Key Responsibilities
As a Specialist Nurse – Cancer Services, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality care to cancer patients throughout their treatment journey. Your main responsibilities will include acting as a key worker for patients navigating complex cancer pathways, delivering safe and effective chemotherapy (SACT) treatments, and providing holistic patient care. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service delivery and assess, plan, and evaluate care across a dynamic and varied caseload.
Clinical Duties
Your clinical responsibilities will include communicating sensitive information with professionalism and empathy, supporting and driving service development and quality improvement initiatives, and promoting best practice in infection control, safety, and patient wellbeing. You will be expected to demonstrate strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills while working independently within a nurse-led environment. The role requires expertise in venepuncture, cannulation, and CVAD management.
Patient Care Coordination
You will be responsible for coordinating patient care through complex cancer pathways, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication between patients, families, and healthcare team members. This includes providing education and support to patients and their families, managing side effects of treatments, and ensuring appropriate follow-up care is arranged. Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this position, you must be a Registered Nurse with relevant oncology experience.
