University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is seeking a Research Nurse/Midwife/AHP to join their Agile Research Delivery Team. This exciting opportunity allows you to play a key role in delivering high-quality health and care research across various healthcare settings in Bristol.
About the Role
As a Research Nurse/Midwife/AHP, you’ll work within the South West Central Regional Research Delivery Network’s hub in Bristol. The position offers a hybrid working pattern with at least 40% of time face-to-face, and requires travel to various locations across the region. The team works across three hubs in Bristol, Bournemouth, and Gloucestershire, with this specific role based in Bristol.
Main Duties
- Work within the scope and code of professional practice
- Perform and record participant assessments and physiological measurements according to your competencies and study protocols
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and research sites with flexibility
- Support various aspects of study delivery including screening, recruitment, consent, interventions, follow-ups, data management, and sample collection
- Adhere to NMC Code or HCPC Code and professional conduct policies
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and wellbeing
- Engage with diverse communities for participant recruitment and support
Essential Qualifications and Experience
You must be educated to degree level in a science or health-related discipline, or have equivalent experience in clinical settings or research delivery. Additionally, you must be a registered Nurse, Midwife, or Allied Health Professional on the relevant part of the professional register (NMC/HCPC) with evidence of ongoing professional development.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
- Knowledge of the governance and legislative framework for clinical research studies, including ICH Good Clinical Practice
- Understanding of the clinical trial and health and care research lifecycle
- Experience in setting up and delivering research studies in health and care settings
- Experience caring for patients/participants enrolled in research studies
- Knowledge and experience in data interpretation, verification, and reporting
Essential Skills and Abilities
- Good IT skills, particularly with web applications, MS Office, and Google Hub
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary activities for research studies
- Understanding of personal accountability
- Ability to travel for work
Desirable Skills
A current driving license is desirable for this role, as it involves travel to various locations across the region.
