Job Summary
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Crisis) to join their team. This innovative post seeks to integrate crisis and Tier 4 (intensive home treatment and inpatient) care for young people under the care of CPFT, in line with the NHS 10-year plan.

Job Location
The position is based at Elizabeth House, Fulbourn, Cambridge, CB21 5EF. The successful applicant will be expected to provide crisis input to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Addenbrookes Hospital, and Peterborough City Hospital, requiring travel across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area.
Salary and Contract
The position offers a salary ranging from £109,725 to £145,478 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a permanent contract with options for full-time or part-time working patterns.
Main Duties
The successful applicant will primarily provide consultant psychiatric leadership in the ongoing development of an effective, efficient and evidence-based crisis and assessment team for the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area. They will work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary colleagues to provide needs-led and child and family centered psychiatric assessment and treatment to young people in acute crisis, and those subsequently requiring Tier 4 intervention.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will provide medical leadership to the CAMH-Crisis team and contribute to the medical leadership of The Darwin Centre for Young People. They will work closely and collaboratively with their consultant and MDT colleagues to ensure robust clinical governance activities are maintained.
Working Pattern
Due to the geographical area covered, the successful applicant will be expected to drive as part of the role, and remote working and flexibility of base will be required. The position includes participation in the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist out of hours on-call rota (currently 1 in 8), paid at Band A, 5% supplement. Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must have full GMC registration and licence to practice, MRCPsych or equivalent qualification/certification, and be a Section 12 Approved Psychiatrist or willing to obtain training. They must also have Approved Clinician Status or willingness to obtain training.
Entry Criteria
Essential requirements include Specialist Registration in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or CESR, or being within 6 months of attainment of CCT/CESR at the time of interview. Candidates must have equivalent experience and competencies as recognised by GMC.
Essential Experience
The successful candidate will need proven experience of good working relationships, experience of multi-disciplinary working, and experience of training doctors in training. A wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experiences relevant to this post would be desirable.
Skills and Abilities
Essential skills include excellent knowledge in specialty, decision-making and problem-solving skills including children and young people, management skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to take a clinical lead, and representation at Trust-wide meetings.
Academic Requirements
Applicants must be able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training, have participated in continuous professional development and research or service evaluation, and be able to use and appraise clinical evidence. Desirable achievements include publication in peer-reviewed journals and leading clinical audits.
Personal Qualities
Essential personal qualities include the ability to demonstrate reflective practice, being approachable and flexible, reliability, and the ability to tolerate clinical complexity, uncertainty and change. Experience of developing services in a constantly changing environment within tight budgetary restraints would be desirable.
