Job Overview
The University of Exeter is seeking a Clinical Consultant Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Biological Psychiatry (E&R) to join our Department of Clinical & Biomedical Sciences. This full-time, permanent position is available from April 2026 and comes with a Certificate of Sponsorship for eligible international candidates.
About the Role
This is a strategically important position for the Department and Medical School as we seek to expand capacity in translational mental health and neuroscience, strengthen clinical links with local NHS trusts across the South-West peninsula, and build on our international reputation in mental health, neuroscience, and genomics research.
Main Responsibilities
We are particularly interested in psychiatrists working in the area of severe mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia, psychosis, major depression, child, and adolescent mental health) who can work alongside our world-leading scientists in basic neuroscience, cell biology, neurogenomics, and data science. The successful applicant will work closely with the NIHR-funded Exeter Biomedical Research Centre to build our capacity in translational psychiatry.
Person Specification
We are looking for a leading or emerging (depending on grade) international figure with the ability to attract world-class academics to their research group. Applicants will be innovative researchers with a top-flight track record of research funding and international quality publications. More junior applicants should have demonstrable potential to attract significant research funding.
