Leeds Teaching Hospitals is seeking a Consultant in Dermatology (General) to join their internationally-renowned Leeds Centre for Dermatology at Chapel Allerton Hospital. This is a substantive 10PA (whole time equivalent) position available from March 2026, offering a competitive salary range of £109,725 to £145,478 per year.

The position is based at Chapel Allerton Hospital in Leeds, with additional clinics at St James’s Hospital and Wharfedale Hospital. Role Summary
The successful candidate will become a key senior member of the dermatology team, with clinical work primarily comprising adult general dermatology, skin cancer services, and dermatological surgery. The post will be based at Chapel Allerton Hospital with advisory participation in the acute dermatology on-call rota covering the whole Trust. There may be opportunities to explore specialist interests within general adult dermatology, community dermatology, and clinical leadership roles.
Key Responsibilities
The post-holder will contribute to and enhance the provision of the adult general dermatology service, enhance the current provision of rapid access diagnostic skin cancer clinics, improve skin cancer surgery services, and contribute to a comprehensive skin cancer multidisciplinary team. The role also includes participation in the non-melanoma MDT and collaboration with Head and Neck MDT and Sarcoma MDT.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must hold MBChB/MBBS or equivalent qualification, full GMC Registration with a license to practice, and eligibility to work in the UK. Your GMC number must be clearly stated in your application. Additionally, you should have completed a recognized training program in Dermatology with either a certificate of completion of training (CCST or CCT) or be expected to receive this within the next 6 months, or have equivalent experience such that you are on the specialist register.
Essential Experience
Candidates must demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of dermatology including acute presentations (including acute paediatric conditions), skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. Specifically, you must show high-level experience and competence in dermatological surgery. Understanding of current issues in the NHS is also essential.
Desirable Qualifications
While not required, a higher degree such as MD/PhD relevant to the subspecialty would be advantageous. Attendance at recognized management courses, previous experience of supervising research by junior staff, and previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops are also desirable.
Desirable Experience
Experience in teledermatology and advice and guidance is desirable. Previous experience of participating in regular clinical audit and experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors would also be beneficial.
Working Pattern
This is a permanent, full-time position with flexible working options available.
