Position Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled Civil Engineering Technician to join our team in Markham, Ontario. This is a permanent, full-time position offering competitive compensation of $36.00 per hour for 30-40 hours of work per week. Role Responsibilities
As a Civil Engineering Technician at SAFFA Engineering Inc, you will play a crucial role in our engineering projects by:
Engineering Specifications and Drawings
You will assist in developing detailed engineering specifications and technical drawings that ensure project compliance with industry standards and regulations. This includes creating precise documentation that guides construction teams and ensures project accuracy and quality.
Field Surveys and Inspections
Participating in field surveys, inspections, and technical investigations is a key component of this role. You will be responsible for collecting accurate field data, conducting site assessments, and providing technical insights that inform engineering decisions and project planning.
Construction Specifications
You will prepare comprehensive construction specifications, cost estimates, and material requirements. This involves analyzing project needs, determining appropriate materials and methods, and creating detailed documentation that supports effective project execution and cost control.
Engineering Designs
Preparing engineering designs and drawings is a core responsibility of this position. You will work with engineers to develop technical plans that address project requirements while considering practical implementation, safety considerations, and regulatory compliance.
Project Scheduling
You will prepare and maintain project schedules that ensure timely completion of engineering tasks and milestones. This involves coordinating with various team members, tracking progress, and making adjustments as needed to keep projects on track.
Field Supervision and Testing
Supervising or conducting field surveys, inspections, technical investigations, and testing of construction materials is a critical aspect of this role. You will ensure that all field activities are performed according to specifications and quality standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
Education
A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field is required. Equivalent education combined with relevant experience may also be considered. For international candidates, credentials may be assessed for Canadian equivalency as part of the application process.
Experience
Previous experience as a civil engineering technician or in a similar technical role is preferred. Candidates with experience in construction materials testing, project documentation, and field investigations will have a competitive advantage. New graduates with relevant education and practical training are also encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in CAD software (such as AutoCAD Civil 3D) and engineering design tools is essential. Language Proficiency
