Through the construction and operation of large scale manufacturing facilities in Nigeria and across Africa, the Group is focused on building local manufacturing capacity to generate employment and provide goods for the people.The Network Operations Specialist Engineer is responsible for assuring stable, secure, and high performing network services that enable internal customer productivity across corporate offices, plants, warehouses, refineries, remote sites, and shared service environments.
The role focuses on operational excellence across LAN, WAN, wireless, internet edge, data center, cloud connectivity, remote access, and network security service delivery. The job exists to improve internal customer experience by reducing service disruption, restoring service quickly, preventing repeat incidents, and improving network performance, availability, and user confidence across a diverse industrial and enterprise environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Manage network incidents across switching, routing, wireless, VPN, internet, WAN, firewall, DNS path dependency, DHCP reachability, and cloud connected services.
Monitor and analyze latency, packet loss, jitter, retransmissions, tunnel health, interface errors, wireless roaming behavior, authentication failures, and application path quality.
Operate and support technologies such as routers, switches, wireless controllers, access points, firewalls, load balancers, WAN edge devices, SD WAN, proxies, and network monitoring platforms.
Support industrial and enterprise connectivity requirements across plants, terminals, production sites, and office environments.
Coordinate provider escalations for leased circuits, internet links, dark fiber, MPLS, microwave, LTE backup, or managed last mile services.
Support major service dependencies including DNS, DHCP, NTP, identity services, certificate-based access, internet breakout, and centralized security controls.
Execute preventive maintenance and health checks.
Drive operational reporting on uptime, service degradation, chronic incidents, and top risk items.
Participate in call rotations and emergency responses.
Support disaster recovery and business continuity exercises for network services.
Provide technical input into service improvement plans, refresh programs, and new site readiness.
Coach junior engineers and support analysts where required.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related field.
5 to 8 years' experience
8 to 12 years with broader operational accountability experience in a large enterprise, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or multi-site environment is preferred.
Hands on experience with enterprise routing, switching, wireless, internet edge, firewall operations, VPN, and monitoring platforms is required.
Experience operating in structured ITSM environments is required.
Experience in emerging market operating conditions is strongly preferred.
