Job Summary
The Shift Engineer (Mechanical) is accountable for the efficient operation and maintenance of the 6000 TCD milling section. The role ensures optimal performance, operational reliability, personnel discipline, and strict adherence to design parameters, safety standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to achieve the targeted crushing rates and overall operational efficiency. The engineer is responsible for operating the plant to meet the set production and performance targets during each shift.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Operation, maintenance, and performance of the milling plant to ensure continuous and smooth operation.
Monitor and control milling efficiency, bagasse moisture, extraction percentage, and other key operational parameters.
Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
Ensure timely repair and replacement of mill components to maintain production continuity.
Maintain strict discipline and performance monitoring among operating and maintenance personnel.
Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and boiler sections for seamless operation of auxiliary systems.
Implement and monitor safety practices and ensure compliance with statutory and company safety standards.
Maintain proper records, logbooks, and reports of mill operations, downtime, and maintenance activities.
Ensure availability of critical spares and consumables in coordination with the stores and procurement teams.
Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to subordinates for skill enhancement and performance improvement.
Liaise with the process and quality control departments to ensure optimal juice extraction and sugar recovery.
Support the management in planning annual overhauls, project upgrades, and capacity enhancement initiatives.
Educational Qualification and Work Experience
Shall hold the minimum of B-Tech/BE/BSc / HND in Mechanical Engineering
COREN, NSE or Any related professional qualification
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mill operation and maintenance within a sugar or similar process industry.
