At Terra Energy Services, we maintain a policy of creating a conducive environment for the attraction of the best qualified and motivated staff for performance enhancement.We are seeking an experienced and technically competent Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support safe, reliable, and efficient upstream oil and gas production operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and supporting the reliability of electrical, instrumentation, control, and safety systems on offshore platforms, while ensuring compliance with applicable HSE, operational, and technical requirements.
The role requires strong hands-on technical expertise, sound fault-finding abilities, and proven experience working in offshore oil and gas environments.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, control, and safety systems supporting production operations.
Diagnose and rectify faults on motors, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), electrical distribution equipment, transmitters, control valves, PLC, ESD, and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems.
Perform instrumentation calibration, loop checks, functional testing, and cause-and-effect verification.
Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, commissioning, shutdowns, and equipment reinstatement.
Inspect and maintain electrical and instrumentation installations in hazardous areas.
Ensure maintenance activities and technical records are completed accurately and in accordance with approved procedures.
Execute maintenance activities in accordance with Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), isolation, and offshore HSE requirements.
Identify equipment defects, abnormal conditions, and potential operational risks and escalate them appropriately.
Qualifications & Experience
HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
8–12 years of relevant experience, preferably within the oil and gas industry with strong upstream E&P exposure.
Demonstrable hands-on experience in comparable offshore or operational environments.
Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation maintenance practices, operational controls, procedures, and technical documentation.
CompEx, ISA, City & Guilds, or equivalent certification is desirable.
BOSIET/HUET and valid offshore medical certification where applicable to offshore deployment.
Relevant professional or technical certifications will be an added advantage.
Technical Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate practical and recent experience in:
Electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault finding.
Field instrumentation maintenance and calibration.
PLC, Emergency Shutdown (ESD), and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems.
Control valves, actuators, and associated instrumentation.
Hazardous-area and Explosion Protection (Ex) systems.
Instrumentation loop checking and commissioning.
Electrical distribution systems, MCCs, motors, and associated equipment.
Functional testing and cause-and-effect verification.
Preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
