Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Auto Mechanic with strong practical knowledge of automotive engineering and mechanical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining vehicles and automotive components to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in vehicles and automotive components.
Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance on vehicles.
Inspect engines, transmissions, suspension, braking, steering, cooling, and other mechanical systems.
Dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble defective mechanical components.
Use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and workshop equipment appropriately.
Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, service manuals, and technical specifications.
Identify mechanical problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Work closely with Engineers, Technicians, Welders, Electricians, and other Production/Maintenance personnel.
Carry out mechanical adjustments and testing after repairs.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and replaced components.
Ensure all work complies with engineering specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
Keep the workshop, tools, and equipment clean and properly maintained.
Perform other duties assigned by the Engineering or Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum of SSCE/WAEC/NECO, NABTEB, Trade Test, or Technical College qualification.
Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience as an Auto Mechanic, preferably in automobile manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environments.
Strong practical knowledge of automotive engineering and mechanical systems is required.
Good knowledge of engine, transmission, braking, suspension, steering, and cooling systems.
Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs.
Ability to understand basic engineering drawings, measurements, and technical manuals.
Proficiency in using automotive hand tools and workshop equipment.
Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Physically fit, safety-conscious, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
