About the Role
The post is based at Northwick Park Hospital with some clinical commitments at Central Middlesex Hospital. Successful candidates will be part of a team of 16 Consultant Haematologist colleagues in delivering clinical, laboratory, diagnostic, administrative, research and teaching responsibilities. There will be excellent opportunities to further develop clinical services and enhance teaching programs at both post-graduate and undergraduate levels.
Main Duties
As a Consultant Haematologist, you will be responsible for the continued delivery and further development of an already established haematology service for patients living within the catchment area. A full-time consultant in this role will undertake three outpatient haematology clinics per week. On-call attending weeks are shared with colleagues on a 1:6 basis, supported by a 24 hour on-call registrar. You will also need to attend MDT meetings at both local and regional levels and work closely with other team members.
Person Specification – Qualifications
Essential:
• FRCPath or equivalent
• MRCP or equivalent
• On the GMC Specialist Register – CCT/CESR (or within 6 months of date of interview)
Desirable:
• MD, PhD or equivalent
Person Specification – Knowledge
Essential:
• Broad based training in Haematology and its subspecialties
• Broad based general professional training in general medicine
Desirable:
• NHS experience within the last 3 years
Person Specification – Management & Audit
Essential:
• Understanding the principles of clinical governance and its implications
• Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives
Desirable:
• Evidence of service audit, design or change management
Person Specification – Teaching
Essential:
• Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff
