Job Overview
Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) team specialising in ADHD and Autism Diagnostic services. About the Position
The successful candidate will split their time between two important services: the Autism Diagnostic Youth Service for Suffolk (ADYSS) and the under 18 ADHD service. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with young people experiencing neurodevelopmental disorders while providing leadership and clinical expertise in these specialized areas.

Main Duties
The Autism Diagnostic Youth Service for Suffolk (ADYSS) provides full diagnostic assessments for autism spectrum disorder for 11- to 18-year-olds whose GP is based in Suffolk (excluding Waveney). The under 18 ADHD service provides assessment for ADHD for under 18s in the same area, including medication prescribing and medical monitoring.
Role Distribution
This post is split between these two teams with the successful candidate providing specialist psychiatric input to both. The ADYSS role constitutes 0.3 WTE (whole time equivalent) while the ADHD role is 0.5 WTE. This distribution supports closer working within the entire under 18 neurodevelopmental disorders pathway.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Entry on the GMC Register
- Approved clinician status
- Section 12(2) Approved under the Mental Health Act (MHA)
- Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCST
Essential Experience
- 3 years or equivalent medical experience
- 6 months experience in relevant clinical area
- Evidence of knowledge of diagnosis, treatment and management of complex mental illness
