Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must possess one of the following professional health or social care qualifications: Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities (RNLD), Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMHN), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Mental Health Social Worker (MHSW). Additionally, candidates must provide evidence of formal post-registration learning and maintain current UK professional registration.
Desirable Qualifications
While not mandatory, candidates with postgraduate training within a relevant CAMHS field or skill will be given preference. The trust also values profession-specific additional qualifications such as learning disability nurse prescriber, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), family therapy, or systemic practice qualifications.
Essential Experience
Applicants must demonstrate significant clinical experience of delivering evidence-based, best practice clinical interventions within CAMHS or related services and/or adult mental health settings. Experience of undertaking specialist self-harm assessments of children and young people is also essential. The successful candidate will need proven experience in specialist care planning and case management, including complex clinical risk assessment and management within a mental health or learning disability setting.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct assessments for children, young people, and families, create formulations to aid understanding of the child’s needs, and utilize evidence-based, goal-focused interventions that lead to positive discharge from the service. The role involves providing individual, family, and group interventions which may be time-limited or longer-term therapies according to need.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include providing a range of specialist CAMHS assessment and treatment interventions for children and young people and their families who present with emotional and mental health difficulties. The role also involves providing Care Coordinator responsibilities for a caseload of children and young people with complex and high-risk mental health issues, with a specific focus on specialist clinical assessment, formulation, and treatment, including self-harm assessments where the Voice of the Child is embedded within personalized care planning.
