About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Paediatric Audiologist to join our expanding team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time position within our Children’s Hearing Services, which consists of 5 Paediatric Audiologists, 5 Clinical Scientists, and 4 Newborn Hearing Screeners.
The successful candidate will provide age-appropriate audiological assessments and hearing aid reviews to children. You will be supported to develop your clinical skills and educational expertise within our IQIPS accredited service. The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team including Derbyshire Hearing Support (Education) Services, Paediatric Consultants, and ENT specialists.
Our service provides a comprehensive range of care including newborn hearing diagnostics, hearing rehabilitation, tinnitus management, and auditory processing disorder assessment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional development in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Paediatric Audiologist, you will:
- Provide age-appropriate audiological assessments and hearing aid reviews
- Deliver information, advice, and emotional support to patients and their families
- Work collaboratively with the Children’s Hearing team
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
- Participate in professional development activities and training
The position requires travel between different sites in North Derbyshire, and therefore a full current driving licence and access to reliable transportation are essential. For applicants with disabilities, suitable alternative arrangements may be agreed upon.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following essential criteria:
- BSc (Hons) Audiology or equivalent qualification
- Ability to register with the Academy of Healthcare Science (ACHS) or HCPC
- Clinical audiology experience
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Good interpersonal skills
- Full current driving licence and access to reliable transportation
- Adaptable to meet service needs
- Team player with a compassionate approach
Desirable Experience
While not essential, the following experience would be advantageous:
- Clinical audiology experience within the NHS
- Experience working at Band 5 level
- Evidence of post-basic training
