About the Position
This appointment is for 2 Consultant Dermatologists on a permanent contract. You will be joining University Hospitals Dermatology Team of 7 other consultants at an exciting time as they bring the cross site teams together. Any sub-specialty interest would be encouraged and supported.
Main Duties
This appointment is for a Consultant Dermatologist to join the newly merged, dynamic Dermatology team at University Hospital Dorset. The team delivers the full range of Dermatology services to patients from Dorset and Hampshire from 2 well-resourced units at Christchurch Hospital and Poole Hospital. Funding is available for 2 full-time posts, with flexibility to consider part-time applicants to complement the job plans of current senior Doctors.
Specialty Interests
We would welcome sub-specialty interests including Moh’s micrographic surgery, Medical Dermatology and/or Pathology. Flexibility is provided for this post to provide a Consultant with an opportunity to sub-specialise, or for an Associate specialist to complete training for CESR application.

Essential Qualifications
Qualifications and Training:
- Full GMC registration
- MRCP or equivalent
Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude:
- Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities
- Ability to manage and lead a wide range of staff involved in a cohesive Dermatology service
- Evidence of formal training in health service management
- Previous experience on policy forming committees
- Evidence of organising an audit programme
- An understanding of research methodology and an ability to interpret research findings
- Publications in peer reviewed journals
- Evidence of Audit Management
Desirable Qualifications
Qualifications and Training:
- Higher degree eg MPhil, MD or PhD (Score 1 in progress – 3 submitted – 5 awarded)
- Other relevant postgraduate qualification
Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude:
- Computer/IT Research skills

Experience:
- Able to offer an expert opinion on a full range of Dermatological problems
- Extensive training in General Internal Medicine and Dermatology
- Formal training in Dermatology sub-specialty
- Ability to recognise the limits of his/her own clinical competence
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Able to perform within a multi-disciplinary team
