Salary and Benefits
This consultant role offers a competitive salary ranging from £109,725 to £145,478 per annum, paid pro rata. Working Pattern and Contract
This is a fixed-term contract with a duration of 12 months. The role offers flexibility with options for full-time, part-time, or job-share working patterns. A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and the Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, based on departmental needs and the individual’s strengths and interests.
Qualifications Required
Candidates must possess GDC/GMC Registration with a Full Licence to Practice. Additionally, successful completion of the Intercollegiate Fellowship Exam in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent qualification is essential. The trust values ongoing professional development and welcomes candidates with additional relevant qualifications.
Essential Experience
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to manage patients with complex facial trauma and oral cancer. Experience in the surgical management of temporomandibular joint pathology and broad experience of head and neck skin cancer surgery, including metastatic disease, is required. The role also requires effective participation in clinical audit and experience in teaching both postgraduate and undergraduate students.
Desirable Qualifications
While not mandatory, completion of a relevant surgical fellowship is highly desirable. Candidates who have completed educational supervisor training courses, hold an ATLS certificate, or are registered on the GMC Specialist Register will be given additional consideration. Experience in performing sentinel lymph node biopsy is also desirable.
Main Duties
The successful candidate will have full involvement in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services in Cornwall, working in conjunction with primary care dental services and the Peninsula Dental School. Responsibilities include sharing with colleagues the day-to-day management of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery workload, and assisting with meeting Key Performance Indicators for the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
