About the Role
This Consultant Neuropsychiatrist position offers a unique working arrangement split equally between two prestigious NHS trusts. You will be based at both Royal Preston Hospital and Charnley Fold in Bamber Bridge, providing a diverse and challenging clinical environment. The post involves working within the Neurosciences Centre at Royal Preston Hospital and collaborating with the Memory Assessment Service (MAS) at Charnley Fold.
Key Responsibilities
Your work will be divided equally between the two trusts. At Royal Preston Hospital, you will work within the Neurosciences Centre alongside other consultants, with your responsibilities primarily focused on outpatient clinics and providing support for ward consultations as required. At Charnley Fold, you will work with the Memory Assessment Service, assessing patients with memory-related issues and comorbid conditions.
Professional Requirements
Applicants must hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within six months of the interview date. It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. These regulatory requirements are essential for practising as a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist in the UK.
Essential Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, demonstrating the foundational medical education necessary for this senior position. Full GMC registration and Licence to Practise are mandatory requirements. Additionally, you must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months at the time of interview, ensuring your specialist training meets UK standards.
Professional Experience
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge, skills, and experience appropriate to the role of a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist. This includes experience in neuropsychiatry, psychiatry, or related specialties that would enable you to effectively manage complex cases within both the Neurosciences Centre and Memory Assessment Service environments.
Working Arrangements
This is a full-time, permanent position with a standard working pattern. You will be expected to participate in the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration will be paid. The post is based in Preston, Lancashire, with locations at Royal Preston Hospital and Charnley Fold in Bamber Bridge.
Remuneration Package
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from £109,725 to £145,478 per annum, in accordance with the terms of the New Consultant Contract based on previous experience. This reflects the seniority and responsibilities of the Consultant role within the NHS.
Professional Development
We are committed to the ongoing professional development of our consultants. This role includes at least 2.5 SPAs (Specialty Practice Allowance) as standard for a full-time post, with flexibility to consider enhancements to support activities that align with the wider ambitions of the Trust. Additionally, we offer a study leave budget of £3000 over 3 years, or up to £5000 over 3 years for newly qualified Consultants.
