Job Summary
Applications are invited for Consultants in Acute General Gynaecology at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) to commence as soon as possible. This post is specifically designed to cover Emergency Gynaecology and Early Pregnancy units, providing an excellent opportunity for qualified gynaecologists seeking a career in the UK National Health Service.
Key Responsibilities
The primary role of this position is to provide high-quality clinical care to patients presenting with problems relating to Acute Emergency General Gynaecology and Early Pregnancy issues. You will be responsible for delivering Consultant-level care and supervision for daytime emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy patients on weekdays only, while supporting junior doctors on call.
Special Interest Opportunities
Candidates will be encouraged to develop special interests in additional areas such as menopause management, ambulatory gynaecology, recurrent miscarriage, scanning services, and other sub-specialty areas within gynaecology. Working Pattern
This position offers an attractive working pattern with no out-of-hours or weekend on-call requirements during the week, making it ideal for candidates who prefer not to work nights or weekends. The weekday daytime on-call commitment is 1:3, with prospective cover shared between three Acute Gynaecology Consultants.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and ideally have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Those within six months of awarding CCT will also be considered. The position welcomes applications from candidates unable to work full-time for personal reasons or those interested in job-sharing arrangements.
Language Requirements
All applicants must demonstrate skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess IELTS/OET examination results before obtaining a GMC license to practice.
