Location
The position is based at the Redgrave Gardens Children & Young People’s Centre, located at 27 Redgrave Gardens, Luton, LU3 3QN. One post will be based at the Child Development Centre (CDC) in Kempston, Bedford, while the other will be at the Edwin Lobo Centre (ELC) in Luton. Successful candidates may have opportunities to work across both sites. Luton offers excellent transport connections to London and other major UK cities.
Salary and Benefits
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from £109,725 to £145,478 per annum, pro-rata. This is based on the Consultant pay scale for hospital medical and dental staff. Qualifications
Essential qualifications include MRCPCH by examination or equivalent, and being on the GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at the time of interview. The certificate of sponsorship will support the visa application process, but GMC registration remains mandatory.
Essential Experience
Applicants must have at least 2 years of training or clinical experience in Community Paediatrics, including assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental disorders, neurodisability, and safeguarding concerns. Up-to-date Level 3+ Safeguarding Children training and valid BLS certification are also required. International candidates should demonstrate equivalent experience in healthcare systems that prioritize child welfare and protection.
Desirable Experience
Desirable qualifications include valid APLS (Advanced Paediatric Life Support) and NLS (Neonatal Life Support) certifications, as well as experience providing medical advice in adoption and fostering. Candidates with experience in Medical Appraisal or research experience/publications will be viewed favorably. International candidates with additional specialized training or certifications are encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates will need excellent clinical and educational supervision skills, with the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams. Experience in completing clinical audits, quality improvement, and service development is essential. Competence in supervising trainees in child protection medical assessments is also required.
