Job Summary
As a Specialist Radiographer working in this newly updated and prestigious Breast unit at Prince Philip Hospital, you will be part of a busy one-stop breast clinic providing highly specialised diagnostic services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The department benefits from recently updated Hologic Dimensions equipment along with a Vacuum Assisted Breast Biopsy system. You will perform specialised radiographic examinations of the breast and assist with specialised interventional procedures such as breast wire localisation and vacuum assisted biopsy procedures.
Key Responsibilities
To perform routine radiographic and more specialised mammography examinations on your own caseload of patients, assess the resulting images and record the necessary information in PACS and Soliton. You will require the necessary CPD evidence, experience and training to undertake these duties. Additionally, you will undertake diagnostic radiographic examinations and act as IR(ME)R practitioner and operator for radiological procedures within your scope of practice.
Technical Equipment Operation
You will operate a wide range of expensive, specialized imaging equipment safely and appropriately. This includes ensuring all relevant safety checks are made before proceeding with any examination. You must comply with IR(ME)R employer procedures, IR local rules and Health Board policies and procedures at all times.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential qualifications include BSc Radiography (or recognised equivalent), Post graduate certificate in Mammography, HCPC registration, and short specialist courses or experience to postgraduate diploma level. You must be qualified to use different equipment and x-ray techniques.
Desirable Qualifications
Understanding of specialist radiography procedures and PACS systems, along with a Post Graduate qualification are considered desirable for this position.
Essential Experience
You must demonstrate radiographer skills and substantial experience in performing mammography examinations. Additionally, you should have experience supervising and training other radiographers.
Desirable Experience
Previous NHS experience is desirable, along with experience of assisting with advanced mammographic procedures such as Vacuum Assisted Biopsies and Contrast Enhanced Mammography. Evidence of role development is also valued.
Language Skills
While not essential, being a Welsh Speaker (Level 1) is desirable for this post to enhance communication with patients and colleagues in Wales.
