Principal Compensation Partner
We are seeking a Principal Compensation Partner to serve as the strategic compensation advisor for our Product organization. In this role, you will be embedded with Product leadership and People Business Partners, providing expert guidance on all compensation matters to attract, retain, and motivate top Product talent in a competitive market.
You will develop deep expertise in the Product talent landscape, influence compensation strategy for this critical function, and ensure our pay practices support both business objectives and employee experience. The ideal candidate combines strong consulting skills with analytical rigor and thrives on building trusted relationships with senior leaders.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with senior leaders, Recruiters and People Business Partners to provide strategic compensation guidance on offers, promotions, retention, and organizational design
- Lead compensation planning for the Product org during annual cycles, ensuring alignment with enterprise principles, internal equity, and budget
- Advise on complex scenarios including counter-offers, equity negotiations, and specialized talent segments
- Build trusted advisor relationships with Product executive leadership and PBPs through proactive engagement, business acumen, and responsive support
- Contribute to the evolution of enterprise compensation philosophy, structures, and policies based on client group insights
- Conduct regular market analyses for Product roles and provide data-driven recommendations to maintain competitiveness
- Develop deep expertise in Product compensation trends, competitive benchmarks, and talent market dynamics
- Coach and enable managers on compensation philosophy, decision-making frameworks, and having compensation conversations
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of compensation experience with significant depth in business partnering and consulting
- Experience supporting Product, Engineering, or Technology organizations in a fast-paced environment
- Deep expertise in compensation fundamentals: market pricing, job evaluation, salary structures, and equity compensation
- Proven ability to influence and advise senior leaders; comfortable presenting to executives
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data into clear, actionable recommendations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust and credibility quickly
- High judgment and discretion when handling sensitive compensation matters
Pay & Benefits
The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
