Salary and benefits
Harvest workers at Sindu Farms receive competitive compensation at $18.25 per hour for 35 to 40 hours of work per week. The employment is seasonal and full-time, starting as early as July 1, 2026. Responsibilities
As a harvest worker at Sindu Farms, you will be responsible for cutting agricultural crops using appropriate tools and techniques. This includes harvesting blueberries and strawberries by hand, ensuring quality and minimizing damage to the produce. You will also grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to size, shape, color, and volume to achieve the best market prices for Sindu Farms’ premium products.
The position requires hand harvesting of various vegetables, ensuring each item is picked at the optimal ripeness and quality. You will be responsible for packing fruits and vegetables according to industry standards, preparing them for shipment to markets and distribution centers across British Columbia and beyond.
Additional duties include planting, cultivating, and irrigating crops as needed throughout the growing season. This involves operating irrigation systems, monitoring soil conditions, and implementing best practices for crop health and development. You will also be responsible for tying and securing plants, particularly for vining crops or those requiring support structures.
Weeding is a regular responsibility to maintain crop health and maximize yields. Workers must be able to identify weeds and remove them efficiently without damaging the crops. Maintaining a clean work area is essential for safety and efficiency, requiring regular cleanup of tools, equipment, and harvest areas.
The position involves harvesting crops at their peak maturity, determining the optimal time for harvest based on crop type and market demands. You will be trained to recognize signs of readiness for different crops to ensure quality and productivity. This requires attention to detail and good judgment throughout the harvest process.
Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment is a key aspect of this role. You will be trained to use tractors and other agricultural equipment safely and efficiently. Requirements
