Compensation Package

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $17.60 per hour. This position guarantees minimum wage as per Ontario employment standards. The position involves working 30 to 40 hours per week, with consistent scheduling that provides work-life balance. Additionally, our compensation structure includes commission and gratuities, allowing for increased earning potential based on performance and client satisfaction.

Employment Terms

This is a permanent, full-time position with immediate availability. The position requires availability during morning, day, evening, and weekend shifts to accommodate our clients’ diverse scheduling needs. Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a valid Hairstylist License recognized in Ontario. This formal certification demonstrates your professional training and qualification to perform various hairdressing services. The license ensures that you meet the provincial standards for safety, sanitation, and technical proficiency required in the hairdressing industry.

Required Experience

We are seeking candidates with proven experience in the following hairdressing services:

Styling Services

Experience in blow drying, iron waving/curling, roller setting, and various styling techniques is essential. These fundamental skills form the basis of most hair services and require precision and creativity to achieve clients’ desired looks.

Chemical Services

Proficiency in applying bleach, dyes/tints, frosting, and streaking/highlights is required. These services require technical knowledge of chemical products, color theory, and the ability to achieve consistent results while maintaining hair health and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

As a Hairstylist at First Choice Haircutters, you will be responsible for a comprehensive range of services and duties:

Client Services

Primary responsibilities include booking appointments, cutting and trimming hair according to client instructions or preferences, shampooing customers’ hair, shaving and trimming beards and mustaches, suggesting hairstyles compatible with clients’ physical features and preferences, and performing various hair treatments such as waving, straightening, and tinting.

Specialized Treatments

You will be expected to provide specialized hair services including scalp conditioning massages, applying bleach, tints, dyes, or rinses to color, frost, or streak hair, and performing cutting, trimming, tapering, curling, waving, perming, and styling techniques. These services require technical skill and attention to detail.

Reception Duties

In addition to hairdressing services, you will be responsible for performing receptionist duties when needed. This includes greeting clients, answering phones, managing appointment schedules, processing payments, maintaining a clean and organized reception area, and providing excellent customer service at all times.
