Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Physician to join our healthcare team in Newmarket. Key Responsibilities
As a Family Physician with Medicentres, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Collecting comprehensive medical information from patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
2. Conducting thorough examinations of patients to identify diseases, injuries, and other health conditions
3. Helping patients develop healthy habits, break old habits, and reshape their approach to wellness through personalized guidance and support
4. Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures to determine the most appropriate medical treatment
5. Consulting with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health through collaborative care approaches
6. Prescribing and administering medications and treatments according to established medical protocols and patient needs
7. Inoculating and vaccinating patients to prevent and treat various diseases as part of preventive healthcare
8. Providing expert advice on healthcare matters to help patients make informed decisions about their health
9. Reporting births, deaths, contagious diseases, and other public health concerns to government authorities as required by law
10. Coordinating or managing primary patient care to ensure continuity and quality of healthcare services
11. Providing acute care management for patients with immediate medical needs
12. Offering counseling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
13. Providing emergency care services as needed within the scope of practice
Qualifications and Education
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
1. Certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) or equivalent international qualifications
2. Current licensure by the provincial or territorial medical authorities in Ontario
3. Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical institution
4. Completion of a family medicine residency program or equivalent training
