Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Data Science to join our team at our North York location (ON M2N 6K1). This is a full-time, term position offering a competitive hourly rate of $50.00 for 40 hours per week. The hybrid work arrangement provides flexibility while maintaining collaboration with our on-site team. This position is available to start as early as October 15, 2026, with an end date of October 14, 2028.
Key Responsibilities
As Director of Data Science, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our data science operations and initiatives. Your primary duties will include assigning IT projects to systems analysts, programmers, and other computer technicians, ensuring that all projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards of quality.
Project Coordination
You will coordinate IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services. This involves planning, executing, and monitoring projects from conception to completion, ensuring that they align with our business objectives and deliver measurable results.
Operational Management
Directing and controlling daily operations will be a critical aspect of your role. You will evaluate daily operations to identify opportunities for improvement, implement best practices, and ensure that our data science functions run smoothly and efficiently.
Budget and Financial Planning
Financial acumen is essential for this position. You will be responsible for planning and controlling budget expenditures, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to maximize the return on our data science investments. Your financial planning will support the strategic growth of our data science capabilities.
Team Leadership
Leading a team of 5-10 professionals, you will supervise computer analysts, engineers, programmers, technicians, and other personnel. Your leadership will include hiring, training, mentoring, and developing team members to ensure high performance and professional growth.
Policy Development
You will establish and implement policies and procedures for information systems that ensure security, compliance, and efficiency. These policies will guide our data science practices and ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Client Relations
Building and maintaining strong client relationships is crucial. You will meet with clients to discuss system requirements, specifications, costs, and timelines. After project completion, you will provide ongoing support and consultation to ensure client satisfaction and identify opportunities for future collaboration.
Innovation and Technology
Staying at the forefront of technological innovation is key to our success. You will authorize the development of specifications for new products and services, with a focus on emerging technologies such as blockchain, robotic process automation, and big data solutions.
Incident Management
When issues arise, you will manage incidents promptly and effectively, minimizing disruption to operations and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence. Your problem-solving skills will be essential in maintaining the reliability of our data systems.
Required Experience and Qualifications
