Job Summary
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of Sales Agents, driving territory growth, achieving sales and disbursement targets, monitoring field execution, and maintaining high standards of application and verification quality. The role combines people leadership, sales strategy, performance management, data analysis, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and manage a team of Sales Agents to achieve assigned business and portfolio targets.
Develop and execute territory sales plans based on market potential, customer segments, and business priorities.
Set daily, weekly, and monthly activity and performance expectations for Sales Agents.
Monitor team performance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and conversion.
Track applications, approvals, disbursements, collections/portfolio quality where applicable, and other relevant sales metrics.
Review field activities and ensure Sales Agents follow approved customer verification, business verification, GPS, documentation, and application procedures.
Conduct regular field visits and coaching sessions to validate agent activity and improve sales effectiveness.
Recruit, onboard, train, and continuously develop Sales Agents in collaboration with HR and relevant stakeholders.
Identify underperforming agents, provide structured performance improvement support, and escalate persistent issues appropriately.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of team reports, performance updates, and management information.
Analyze sales data to identify trends, bottlenecks, high-performing areas, and opportunities for growth.
Build relationships with key merchants, customers, community stakeholders, and other relevant partners within the assigned territory.
Coordinate with Operations, Risk, Credit, Compliance, HR, and other teams to resolve customer and operational issues.
Ensure team compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, data protection standards, and responsible sales/lending practices.
Provide management with market intelligence, competitor insights, customer feedback, and recommendations for business growth.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or HND in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant sales, business development, fintech, banking, microfinance, or field-sales experience.
At least 1 year of experience supervising or managing a sales/field team is preferred.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing performance.
Experience using CRM, sales management, Excel, dashboards, or other digital reporting tools is an advantage.
