Position Details
This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 30 to 40 hours of work per week. The position is available immediately for qualified candidates who can begin as soon as possible. The work location is entirely on-site at our Nelson dental practice. We offer a competitive hourly salary ranging from $55.00 to $65.00 CAD, with the exact compensation to be negotiated based on qualifications and experience.
Core Responsibilities
The Registered Dental Hygienist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive initial dental assessments for new and returning patients. This includes evaluating oral health conditions, identifying potential issues, and developing appropriate treatment plans in consultation with our dental team. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical skills while maintaining a patient-centered approach to care.
Clinical Procedures
Key clinical responsibilities include performing professional dental cleanings to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth surfaces. The hygienist will administer preventive treatments such as fluoride applications and sealants to protect against dental caries. Additional procedures include taking and developing dental radiographs (X-rays), applying and removing temporary dressings, and removing sutures following surgical procedures.
Periodontal Care
A critical aspect of this position involves providing specialized periodontal care.
