Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and committed Consultant Psychiatrist in general adult psychiatry to join our PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) in Lincoln. This role offers an opportunity to work in a supportive environment where clinical excellence is prioritized, and there is scope for flexibility negotiable through the relevant Clinical Director. Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a full range of psychiatric treatments to patients in the PICU ward. This includes providing clinical leadership by leading multi-disciplinary input during ward rounds and facilitating individual care plans and treatment strategies. You will actively engage with Trust policies, programmes, training initiatives, and strategic reviews while working within national guidance and professional codes of conduct at all times.
Clinical Leadership
As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide essential clinical leadership within the multi-disciplinary team. This involves overseeing patient assessments, developing treatment plans, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals. You will have the option to provide input to daytime cover for the Section 12 rota if you wish to join, and you must maintain current safeguarding practices while working clinically with general adults and their families/carers.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice
- Included on the GMC Specialist register, or within 6 months of completing
- Approved Clinician status, or able to achieve within 3 months of completing
- MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- DBS clearance
li>Approved under Section 12(2) or able to achieve within 3 months of completing
Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, candidates with additional qualifications or higher degrees in medical education, clinical research, or management may be at an advantage. We also value candidates who demonstrate a willingness to engage with further training in general psychiatry and possess additional clinical qualifications. Being in good standing with the GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice is also considered desirable.

The position offers 7 PA (proportion of whole time equivalent) with a £2,000 per annum study budget and 30 days study leave over 3 years.
