The KYC and Onboarding Assistant is responsible for supporting the customer onboarding process by verifying customer identities, reviewing documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
The role involves conducting Know Your Customer (KYC) checks, maintaining accurate records, and assisting in preventing fraud, money laundering, and other financial crimes.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Onboarding:
Assist in the onboarding of new customers by collecting and reviewing required documentation.
Ensure customer information is accurately captured and recorded in the system.
Verify customer identities and supporting documents in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Ensure all onboarding procedures are completed before account activation.
KYC Verification:
Conduct KYC checks to confirm customer identity and legitimacy.
Review identification documents such as government-issued IDs, proof of address, and other required documents.
Identify incomplete or suspicious applications and escalate to the Compliance team.
Compliance Support:
Ensure adherence to KYC/AML policies and regulatory guidelines.
Assist in monitoring customer accounts for compliance with internal policies.
Report suspicious activities or discrepancies to the Compliance Manager.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and organized records of customer documents and onboarding files.
Ensure proper documentation for audit and regulatory purposes.
Update customer information in the database when required.
Customer Support:
Provide support to customers during the onboarding process.
Respond to customer inquiries regarding documentation and onboarding requirements.
Follow up with customers for missing or additional information.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or HND in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Banking, or a related field.
Experience::
1–3 years of experience in KYC, customer onboarding, compliance, or banking operations.
Experience in financial services, fintech, microfinance, or banking is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
Good knowledge of KYC and AML regulations.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
