Job Overview
We are seeking skilled Truck Drivers to join our team at Gonni Trucking Ltd. in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a permanent, full-time position offering competitive compensation at $36.00 per hour, with the potential for overtime pay. The position requires flexibility with various shifts including early morning, morning, day, evening, night, and weekend hours.
Location and Schedule
This position is based at our Edmonton location (T6B 0A1) and requires on-site work. Drivers can expect to work between 30 to 60 hours per week, with overtime available as needed. Required Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must possess a valid Air Brake (Z) Endorsement and a valid Driver’s License (Class 1 or A). These certifications are essential for operating the commercial vehicles in our fleet and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
Experience Requirements
Applicants should have experience in handling various transportation documentation including accident or incident reports, bills of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, and trip reports. This experience demonstrates familiarity with the documentation requirements of commercial transportation operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Our Truck Drivers are responsible for addressing customers’ complaints or concerns with professionalism and excellent customer service skills. You will be expected to maintain a positive and respectful relationship with clients while resolving issues in a timely and effective manner that reflects well on our company’s reputation.
Transportation Operations
The core responsibility of this position is to operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for ensuring that all deliveries are made on time, in good condition, and according to the specifications provided by our clients.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection
Drivers are required to oversee the condition of their assigned vehicle, conducting thorough inspections of tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment. You will perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in optimal working condition and meets all safety standards.
Emergency and Preventative Maintenance
As a member of our team, you will be trained to perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs when necessary. You will also conduct regular preventive maintenance checks to identify potential issues before they become serious problems, ensuring minimal downtime for your vehicle.
Documentation and Record Keeping
Accurate record-keeping is essential in this role. You will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption. Additionally, you must properly complete and submit all required reports including trip reports, maintenance logs, and inspection documentation.
Cargo Handling and Security
Drivers are responsible for loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring proper handling procedures are followed. You will also be responsible for tarping cargo and ensuring the safety and security of all materials during transit, protecting them from damage, theft, or loss.
Financial Transactions
As part of your duties, you may be required to pay and receive payments for goods transported. This includes handling cash, processing payments, and maintaining accurate financial records for all transactions conducted during your routes.
Communication and Dispatch Coordination
Effective communication is vital in our operations. You will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch, keeping them informed of your status, any issues encountered, and confirming delivery completion. This ensures smooth coordination across our transportation network.
