About the Position
Wingerworth Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated Salaried GP to join our modern, high-achieving friendly GP Training Practice. This is an excellent opportunity for international medical professionals to work in the UK healthcare system while receiving support through our certificate of sponsorship program.

Located at the heart of Wingerworth village, our practice offers progressive general practice in a welcoming village setting. We pride ourselves on providing an excellent working environment with modern and spacious premises. As a training practice, we focus on continuous development and offer opportunities to contribute to the training of the next generation of GPs.
Role Details
The position is permanent with a flexible working pattern of 4 to 6 sessions per week. The starting salary is dependent on experience and will be discussed during the application process. We offer a well-managed workload with support from an excellent clinical and clerical team, ensuring a healthy work-life balance.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a team player with a positive attitude who is committed to quality clinical care. We welcome GPs who are or would like to become Educational Supervisors or Clinical Supervisors. Special interests within our clinical team are actively encouraged, and we are always open to new ideas and ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
The main working week will involve a mix of urgent and routine appointments, both telephone and face-to-face. Appointments are typically 15 minutes in duration, with morning and evening clinics having a maximum of 15 appointments per session. Scheduled tea breaks are provided morning and afternoon to facilitate wellbeing and teambuilding.
Clinical Duties
Key responsibilities include providing the full range of NHS Primary Medical Services, participating in Enhanced Service delivery, maintaining confidentiality, and working in a non-judgmental, anti-discriminatory manner. You’ll make professional autonomous decisions regarding patient care, assess healthcare needs, screen for disease risk factors, and develop care plans in consultation with patients.
Administrative Requirements
You’ll be responsible for recording clear and accurate consultation notes using our practice electronic clinic system, compiling and issuing computer-generated prescriptions, and contributing to the practice achievement of QOF and other performance targets. You’ll also be expected to participate in audit and commit to lifelong learning.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must hold GMC registration, Performers List Registration, and have obtained your MRCGP. These qualifications are mandatory for practicing as a GP in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, additional qualifications in Child Health, Family Planning, or experience as an Educational Supervisor or Clinical Supervisor would be advantageous. These additional qualifications demonstrate your commitment to professional development and medical education.
About Wingerworth Medical Centre
We are a busy, friendly practice serving approximately 7,900 patients, with the vast majority residing in Wingerworth, Old Tupton, and New Tupton. Our Team
Our team consists of a GP Partner, Salaried GPs, Pharmacists, an LTC Nurse, a Nursing Associate, HCAs, and a full complement of administrative staff. We host 4 Registrars at any one time, offering excellent opportunities for teaching and mentorship.
IT Systems
We utilize SystmOne as our primary clinical system, with additional tools including AccuRx for patient communications and Econsults for streamlined referrals. Our IT infrastructure supports efficient clinical workflows and patient care delivery.
Certificate of Sponsorship
We welcome applications from international candidates requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship. This certificate of sponsorship will enable eligible candidates to work in the UK. From 6 April 2017, skilled worker applicants have been required to present criminal record certificates from countries where they have resided for 12 months or more in the past 10 years.
