Job Overview
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Team Manager to join our Hambleton & Richmond Wellbeing in Mind Team. This role provides operational leadership to a team of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) who work directly within educational settings, aligning with the government’s priority to increase mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people in education.
About the Organization
As part of the Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, you’ll join a locality-wide leadership team alongside Clinical Leads and other Team Managers. With support from our existing leadership team, you’ll take a lead role in developing new processes and pathways. You’ll provide management supervision to your team and support the senior leadership team in reporting team outcomes to various stakeholders.
Main Duties of the Job
Our Wellbeing in Mind Team has three core functions, each accounting for approximately one-third of the team’s workload:
Whole-School Wellbeing Support
You will support the development of a whole-school or college approach to wellbeing. This includes helping educational settings develop and implement mental health and wellbeing policies, creating resources, supporting campaigns, and delivering training, assemblies, and PHSE curriculum content.
Staff Consultation and Advice
You’ll provide timely advice and consultation to education staff, designed to help teaching staff build their skills and confidence in supporting the wellbeing needs of their students. This support is offered in both formal and informal settings.
Direct Assessment and Intervention
You’ll undertake direct assessments and interventions for young people within education settings. We offer a low-intensity service model, predominantly using cognitive-behavioral therapy approaches.
Key Responsibilities
The Team Manager must demonstrate excellent time management skills, prioritizing and managing competing demands effectively. Building relationships and collaborating with a wide range of partners and stakeholders is vital for success in this role. You’ll join a team with a strong culture of learning, innovation, and support.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
Essential qualifications include current professional registration with an appropriate body in healthcare or social work, or a relevant professional clinical qualification (such as PWP/CWP in IAPT/Getting Help services). You must either be educated to Master’s level in leadership or a subject area relevant to practice, or have equivalent clinical experience at Band 6 or above with significant experience including managing people, along with evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
You must be trained in Clinical Supervision and providing supervision, and be a Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor. Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviors is required, along with evidence of delivering supervision. A detailed understanding of safeguarding and its application in practice is essential, as is knowledge of risk assessment and management.
Essential Experience
You’ll need significant experience of managing people and substantial experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field. This experience should demonstrate your ability to lead teams effectively and provide high-quality care in challenging situations.
Knowledge Requirements
A working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and other relevant legislation is required. You should also have knowledge of clinical medicines management, experience in developing and maintaining standards of practice, and evidence of training in Quality Improvement methodology or coaching.
