About the Position
Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is offering a unique full-time position as a student to undertake practical knowledge and training as part of the Post Graduate Specialist Community Public Health Nursing course. This opportunity will qualify you as a School Nurse while providing valuable hands-on experience within the NHS. The position is available across Hull and East Riding with a fixed-term contract of 12 months.
Job Summary
This is a full-time position designed for nurses who wish to specialize in school nursing through a postgraduate course. You will work as part of the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing Team, assisting with supporting families by delivering packages of care under the direction of the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nurse (0-19 years). Your work will take place in various settings including homes, community settings, Children Centres, and Early Years Settings.

Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must hold current registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register. Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, having knowledge of the Adolescent Brain and sexual health would be advantageous for this role. Additionally, experience as a registered mentor or Practice assessor is considered desirable. Essential Knowledge and Experience
You must demonstrate a basic understanding of relevant policy, legislation and guidance applicable to the clinical area, particularly concerning Children, Young People and their families. Furthermore, you should have the ability to analyse and implement evidence-based practice and best approaches in public health nursing.
Desirable Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge of leadership skills and theory is considered desirable for this position. Such knowledge would support your development as a future leader in public health nursing and enhance your contribution to team management and service improvement initiatives within the Trust.
Essential Skills and Competencies
Good IT skills are essential for this role, as you will be required to use various digital systems for record-keeping, communication, and accessing training resources. Additionally, strong assessment and screening skills are necessary to effectively evaluate the health needs of children, young people, and their families.
Desirable Skills and Competencies
Some knowledge of Trust policies and procedures would be beneficial to effectively lead and manage within the clinical environment. This knowledge would help you navigate organizational systems and ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
