About the Role
East London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join their Community Neuro Service on a fixed-term, part-time basis for 12 months, covering a maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced speech and language therapists to work with adults who have stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and progressive neurological conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinson’s Disease.
Service Overview
The Community Neuro Service provides comprehensive assessment, treatment, and management services to adults with neurological conditions. The service offers early supported discharge for stroke patients, community stroke pathways, and neuro rehabilitation programs. Therapists work with clients in various settings including their homes, clinics, via telehealth, and other appropriate community locations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join a well-established multi-disciplinary team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation support workers, a psychologist, neuro navigator, and four other speech and language therapists. You will have access to regular clinical supervision and opportunities for additional internal and external CPD and training.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
- Allied Health Profession License
- Experience of working with adults in health or social care settings
- Relevant clinical experience at undergraduate or post-graduate level
- Excellent interpersonal skills including observation, listening, and empathy
- Negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Good IT skills
