Job Overview
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Nurse Advisor to join our Occupational Health and Infection Prevention & Control team. This pivotal role involves the coordination and management of all matters pertaining to Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) in the service. The post holder will provide expert advice and support on managing staff health and IPC, while liaising with IPC teams to ensure effective management systems are operational throughout the Trust.

Key Responsibilities
The Specialist Nurse Advisor will lead on the management and delivery of the occupational health component of Trust Inductions and other large inductions, including annual doctors’ inductions where occupational health screening is required. The post holder will also lead on infection control matters relating to outbreaks, managing and coordinating large outbreak lists while acting as a specialist advisor on staff fitness to work.
Specific Duties Include:
- Lead, develop and take continuing responsibility for effective day-to-day operational management across all OHSWB sites
- Lead and support PH service delivery during periods of change
- Build successful links between key professionals within the OHSWB and wider Trust
- Ensure SOHNs are fully appraised of IPC activity and resource requirements
- Act as a professional nurse leader and role model to staff
- Provide professional, clinical leadership and expertise in the speciality
- Be accountable for own practice in line with NMC code standards
- Maintain and update professional knowledge in OH nursing and public health
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Significant post registration experience in General/adult nursing
- Education to BSc/BA level or equivalent experience
- Occupational Health Qualification (e.g. Certificate/Diploma)
- Demonstrable clinical expertise and commitment to professional development
- Significant experience as a practice nurse in an Occupational Health service/department
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Awareness and understanding of current health issues affecting NHS workforce
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
