The Opportunity
This is an exciting time to join NCIC as we are implementing significant changes to enhance our clinical services. We have recently appointed leadership roles and are restructuring our services into Care Collaboratives, giving clinicians greater responsibility. As part of our commitment to excellence, all successful candidates will be expected to submit documentation for the GMC Portfolio Pathway within 18 months of their start date.
Development Projects
The Trust is currently undertaking several major development projects including a £40m development program for our West Cumberland Hospital site, a new £20m Community Diagnostic Centre planned to open in 2025, and a £15m Endoscopy Suite at the Cumberland Infirmary. Additionally, we are implementing a £40m electronic patient record system. These projects provide an excellent environment for professional development and gaining experience in state-of-the-art facilities.
Essential Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, candidates must have valid full registration with the General Medical Council and membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent. Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers, and other staff are essential, as is the ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
Desirable Qualifications
While not mandatory, a commitment to and experience in teaching is desirable. Other qualifications that may strengthen your application include relevant CCT or equivalent, being on the Specialist Register, possessing other relevant medical and non-medical training degrees, and holding additional postgraduate qualifications.
Experience Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate a valid Full Registration with the General Medical Council. Experience in medical audit, research, and clinical governance is essential. The ability to advise on efficient service management and organize your own workload efficiently is also required. Experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff is considered desirable.

We are looking for individuals who can work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an empathetic and sensitive approach to patient needs. Strong interpersonal skills, team loyalty, a positive approach to learning, and confidence without arrogance are highly valued. The ability to participate in on-call and emergency cover and travel to fulfill the requirements of the post is essential.
