Job Overview
Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Education Mental Health Practitioner to join their Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Bradford and Craven District. About the Role
Working within the MHST in Bradford and Craven District is an amazing experience for any qualified EMHP. The team is a passionate and caring team with capacity to support individual growth and development, leading the way in mental health support in schools and colleges.
The post-holder will work within a CYP (Children and Young People) mental health service, delivering high-quality, brief, outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing low intensity CBT to mild to moderate mental health conditions within school/colleges and community settings
- Auditing, planning and reviewing whole school/college approach interventions
- Engaging in case management and clinical skills supervision
- Offering assessments to children, young people and families
- Providing consultation to education staff and supportive signposting
- Working alongside other professionals within mental health services
Working Environment
This post will work under the direction of the Lead and Senior MHST Practitioners within Bradford District Care Trust’s MHST service, across primary, secondary, and further education settings (college). The actual distribution of workload within these areas will depend on the demands of the service by agreement with the Clinical lead.
You will act as an interface between staff working in all emotional mental health services, providing liaison, assessment, training, and consultation regarding the emotional and psychological wellbeing of children and young people.
Person Specification – Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner qualification
- Registration with BABCP or BPS or be in the process of registering if newly qualified
Person Specification – Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications would be advantageous:
- Other related degree qualification
- Youth mental health first aid trained
Person Specification – Essential Experience
You must demonstrate experience of:
- Working with children and young people who experience common mental health difficulties including anxiety and/or depression
- Managing your own caseload
- Engaging in clinical and case management supervision
- Working knowledge of Health, Social Care, education and third sector organisations
- Knowledge and skills to safeguard and protect children and young people’s welfare in line with the Children’s Act 2004 requirements
Person Specification – Desirable Experience
Additional experience that would strengthen your application includes:
- Experience of working with looked after children
- Experience implementing evidence-based interventions within limits of own training and competence
