About the Role
As a Dispensary Assistant at Hellesdon Hospital, you will be an essential part of our pharmacy team, providing high-quality medication services to various wards including Adult Acute, dementia and complexity in later life, child and adolescent, and forensic services. Our dispensary utilizes advanced robotic dispensing technology for clozapine supply services, offering you the opportunity to work with cutting-edge pharmacy systems.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the stores and pre-pack service of the pharmacy, entering data on the computer system, generating orders, compiling and supplying ward stock items, and serving as the lead for top-up services to allocated wards and departments. You will also be responsible for dispensing in-patient and out-patient prescriptions and individual named-patient medications with precision and care.
Daily Duties
In your daily role, you will maintain hygiene, health and safety standards by performing routine housekeeping tasks in the pharmacy department. The position requires excellent attention to detail, accurate record-keeping, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy healthcare environment. You will collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive their medications promptly and correctly.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications:
• NVQ level 2, including dispensing module
• 5 GCSEs grade C or above (or equivalent) in a science subject, mathematics and English
Experience Requirements
Essential Experience:
• Experience of dispensing
• Working in a busy dispensary environment
Desirable Experience:
• NHS experience (preferred but not required)
Knowledge Requirements
Essential Knowledge:
• Understanding of confidentiality principles and practices
