Job Summary
The post holder will be employed by The Royal Marsden Hospital and based at the Sutton site. This position requires a pivotal role in the GI service for all patients at RMH. The job planning process will be carried out in partnership between the employer and employee, with the post holder reporting to The Head of the GI Unit and being managed within the Division of Cancer Services. Tumour specific commitments will be conducted in the GI unit, with office space and secretarial support provided in the Sutton branch of The Royal Marsden.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising doctors in training within the GI team, providing both clinical and educational supervision as appropriate. They will need to attend unit-specific MDMs (multidisciplinary meetings), clinics, and departmental meetings. The post holder will lead inpatient board rounds and reviews on designated days and participate in supporting the multidisciplinary care team, which includes Medical Oncologists, Clinical Oncologists, Surgeons, junior team members, Specialist Nursing Staff, Therapists, Dieticians, Social Workers, Palliative Care professionals, and Counselling services for patients and families.
Qualifications Required
Essential:
– Full GMC Registration and licence to practice
– Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent qualifications
– CCT in Medical Oncology or equivalent or within 6 months of obtaining it
Desirable:
– Higher degree (MD or PhD)
Experience Required
Essential:
– Broad-based experience in oncology, including systemic therapies
– Significant experience in clinical and translational research
– Significant interest and experience in the management of acute oncology patients
Desirable:
– Undergraduate and postgraduate training experience
– Management and leadership experience
