Job Summary
Are you interested in working in a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team focused on new ways of working using all of the strengths of the team? Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant in Community Paediatrics to join their established team. This post is designed to strengthen the Community Paediatric department and deliver community paediatric services to children and families across Buckinghamshire. You will spend approximately one day each week working on a negotiated special interest aligned to supporting the team’s strategic objectives.

Location Details
The position is based at Amersham Hospital, located at Wielden Street, Amersham, HP7 0JD. The Community Paediatricians in the North of the county are based in offices at Rayners Hedge, Croft Road in Aylesbury, while those in the South work from Wycombe Hospital, Abbey Place and Haleacre Unit in Amersham. This location provides excellent transport links and a supportive working environment.
Salary and Benefits
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from £109,725 to £145,478 per annum, paid pro rata. Working Pattern
This is a permanent, full-time position with flexible working arrangements available. Main Duties
The role will involve delivering a range of community paediatric inputs including general clinics, neurodevelopmental MDT meetings, and Children Looked After clinics. There may be additional variety through support to special schools and through any special interest the candidate may offer. You will work across Buckinghamshire, providing essential services to children and young people with diverse healthcare needs.
Person Specification – Qualifications
Essential qualifications include MRCPCH by examination or equivalent, full GMC registration, and being on the GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at the time of scheduled interview. You must be able to demonstrate having achieved the competencies equivalent to the Highest Specialist Paediatric Training. Additionally, valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training and BLS Training are required.
Person Specification – Experience
You must be able to demonstrate a current strong interest in Community Paediatrics. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate difficult news effectively. A flexible approach to work is essential, understanding that the demands may vary year to year. You should have a caring attitude toward patients, carers, and colleagues.

Team Structure
The Community Paediatric team includes GPs with an interest in community paediatrics, a team of psychologists, and a community pharmacy team. Additional nursing input comes from the school nursing team who undertake measurements in school for children on medication.
