Salary and Benefits
This permanent, full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from £110,240 to £160,951 per annum, based on the Hospital Medical and Dental Staff pay scheme. Working Pattern

Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the provision and delivery of a first-class clinical service in Adult General Community Psychiatry. Key duties include providing effective leadership to staff, conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements, and maintaining core clinical expertise in Adult General Psychiatry. The role requires experience in multidisciplinary assessment and community management of acute and chronic mental health problems.
Clinical Leadership
Integral to this role is the responsibility to provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty. The consultant will support and train multidisciplinary teams, deliver care in the community alongside primary healthcare and social care teams, and address the Intermediate Care Agenda. Leadership experience is essential for this position.
Professional Development
The successful applicant will be expected to maintain good standing with the Royal College for CPD and participate in Continuing Professional Development including audit. You will maintain professional development for Revalidation and undertake the role of Educational Supervisor to Junior and Middle Grade Medical Staff. Regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and evidence-based medicine practice are also required.
Research and Teaching
The position requires sustaining and developing teaching and research wherever appropriate. Applicants should demonstrate knowledge of current research and best practice in the specialty area, with evidence of keeping up to date with developments and communicating research evidence effectively.
Person Specification – Qualifications
Essential: Full registration and a License to Practice with the General Medical Council; on the GMC Specialist Register (including via Portfolio Pathway (CESR)/European Community Rights) or will have CCT due within six months of interview date; Valid Certified Advanced Life Support; Section 12 approval.
Desirable: Additional Higher qualification(s).
Person Specification – Experience
Essential: Broad based experience within the specialty area; ability to demonstrate core competencies and clinical skills relevant to the post; experience of leading a team.
Desirable: Previous experience working in the UK or NHS.

Essential: Understanding of the role of Clinical Governance; ability to critically assess learning requirements for self and others; evidence of organising programmes and teaching all staff groups; willingness to teach all grades of professional multidisciplinary staff; demonstrates knowledge of safeguarding requirements and takes appropriate responsibility.
Desirable: Teaching qualification; knowledge of risk management; evidence of applying appropriate equality and diversity legislation; Welsh Speaker (Level 1).
