About the Role
Our CAMHS Learning Disability Service is seeking a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide specialized clinical care to young people with learning disabilities in Suffolk. This unique opportunity involves clinical lead responsibility across the under 18 Learning Disability service. The position is split between two specialized teams: the Autism Diagnostic Youth Service for Suffolk (ADYSS) and the under 18 ADHD service, offering a diverse and impactful career path in child and adolescent psychiatry.
Main Duties of the Job
The Autism Diagnostic Youth Service for Suffolk (ADYSS) provides comprehensive diagnostic assessments for autism spectrum disorder for young people aged 11-18 whose GP is based in Suffolk (excluding Waveney). Meanwhile, the under 18 ADHD service offers assessments, ADHD medication prescriptions, and ongoing medical monitoring for under 18s in the same geographic area.
This post is divided between these two important teams, with 0.3 WTE dedicated to the ADYSS team in line with NICE guidance, and 0.5 WTE focused on the ADHD team alongside the existing substantive CAMHS consultant. The successful candidate will provide specialized psychiatric input to both teams, supporting closer working within the entire under 18 neurodevelopmental disorders pathway.
