Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team as a Clinical Lead for Adult Community Services. This Band 8a position offers a competitive salary of £61,631 to £68,623 per annum and includes the opportunity to obtain a certificate of sponsorship for UK work authorization. This is a full-time, permanent role based at St Micheal’s Hospital in Enfield.
About the Role
As Clinical Lead, you will oversee the clinical organisation and development of adult community SLT services in the London Borough of Enfield. This leadership position requires a highly specialist therapist with strong clinical governance experience and the ability to manage a complex caseload of adults with acquired pathologies. You’ll work strategically with AHP Leads and senior stakeholders to enhance service delivery while providing mentorship to your team.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily duties will include making decisions on resource allocation that directly affect patient care, providing highly specialist advice to rehabilitation teams, and leading clinical governance initiatives. You’ll be responsible for implementing quality improvement projects and managing a diverse caseload that offers wide variation in aetiologies.
Leadership and Management
You will lead day-to-day supervision of staff, participate in recruitment processes, and take responsibility for the operational management of the adult SLT team. This includes allocating work, organizing schedules, and ensuring service priorities are met. Additionally, you’ll develop and deliver in-service training programs and contribute to staff performance assessments.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential qualifications include an RCSLT Recognised Diploma/Degree in SLT and HCPC registration. You should also have completed relevant post-graduate courses and possess a recognized dysphagia qualification. desirable qualifications include a Master’s Degree in a relevant subject and membership of a relevant Clinical Excellence Network.
Experience and Knowledge
You must have substantial experience working in out-patient and community MDT settings, with proven clinical supervision experience. The role requires recent and extensive experience at an advanced practitioner level, particularly in adult dysphagia management within an NHS setting. You should also have diverse experience working with patients with acquired neurological conditions and experience delivering training packages to carers.
Skills and Abilities
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, with the ability to generate high-caliber reports and letters. You should possess highly advanced communication skills and exceptional clinical reasoning abilities. The role requires effective time management, the ability to prioritize workloads, and competence with basic Microsoft packages.
