Animal Technician – Cage Wash, DLAM | UCLA
Los Angeles, California, Description Under the direct supervision of the cage wash Prin AnimalTechnician (PAT) and in close collaboration with the cage wash Sr. Animal Technician(SAT), the Animal Technician (AT) performs tasks associated with cage wash andsupply sterilization including coordination of supply transport acrossdifferent buildings on campus, as well as equipment checks and troubleshooting. Salary Range: $26.74 – $31.54 Hourly Qualifications All Required: Required to hold valid driver’s license, have a drivingrecord that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll inthe California Employer Pull Notice Program Working knowledge of cage wash equipment included but notlimited to rack and tunnel washers, bedding dispenses, bedding vacuums, waterfilling stations, and sterilizers Knowledge of safety practices in the cage wash areincluding but not limited to ergonomics, thermal and allergy risks. Knowledge of all the cage wash areas and the equipment ineach of them, sufficient to organize, sort and process soiled items, and packand sterilized (when needed) clean equipment in an efficient and safe manner. Ability to lift 50 pound and to push 200-300 pound cageracks of animals. Ability to drive a car and meet all the requirements to beallowed to drive a vehicle owned by DLAM Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing,accurately and timely Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing materials andtechniques sufficient to maintain a healthful environment. Ability to maintain records following proper documentationpractices Computer basic knowledge and skills to complete onlinetraining sessions as well as to support the SAT/PAT on supply and equipmentinventory and other information managed through data bases AALAS certification at Assistant Lab Animal Technicianlevel or higher with one year of animal care experience; or high schoolgraduation and two years of animal care experience in the care of an animalspecies appropriate to the particular job; or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience. Knowledge of and ability to accurately follow all SOPs,Working Instructions, Forms, Training Check list associated with the cage washarea Ability to participate in weekend/Holiday work rotationsand occasional overtime duties.
