Position Overview

Compensation
We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from $100,000 to $180,000 CAD, negotiable based on experience, qualifications, and specializations. This position also includes opportunities for bonuses and additional compensation for overtime hours worked.
Work Schedule
The position requires 32 to 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling options. Evening and weekend shifts may be required as part of our regular operating hours. Overtime opportunities are available for those interested in additional hours.
Responsibilities
As a Veterinarian at Thames Valley Animal Hospital, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to our animal patients. Your duties will include performing examinations, diagnosing illnesses, developing treatment plans, conducting surgeries, and providing preventive care guidance to pet owners.
Clinical Duties
You will be expected to perform a wide range of clinical procedures including but not limited to: wellness examinations, vaccinations, dental cleanings, spay and neuter surgeries, emergency care, and treatment of various medical conditions. You will also be responsible for accurate record-keeping and client communication.
Surgical Expertise
Strong surgical skills are required for this position. You should be comfortable performing routine and some advanced surgical procedures. Our hospital is equipped with modern surgical facilities and equipment to support high-quality surgical care.
Client Relations
Building strong relationships with pet owners is a crucial aspect of this role. You will need to effectively communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care recommendations. Compassion and excellent communication skills are essential when discussing sensitive topics with clients.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution. A valid license to practice veterinary medicine in Ontario or eligibility for licensure is required. Experience in small animal practice is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
Education Requirements
A DVM degree from an AVMA-accredited or equivalent international institution is required. If your education was obtained outside of Canada, you may need to have your credentials assessed by the Veterinary Medical Association of Ontario.
Language Skills
Fluency in English is required for effective client communication and record-keeping. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset in our diverse community.
