Key Responsibilities
As a Tool and Die Maker at Lefko Produits de Plastique Inc., your responsibilities will include:
Quality Control and Testing
You will be responsible for inspecting final products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. This involves careful examination of manufactured plastic products to identify any defects or deviations from design specifications. Additionally, you will test prototypes and production tools to verify functionality and performance before full-scale production begins.
Technical Training and Mentorship
Part of your role will involve instructing apprentices and junior team members in the proper techniques and procedures for tool and die making. This passing of knowledge is essential for maintaining high standards and developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople in our organization.
Metalworking and Machining
>You will position, secure, measure, and work with metal stock or castings to lay out for machining operations. This precision work requires attention to detail and a thorough understanding of materials and machining processes to create the tools and dies necessary for plastic manufacturing.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
You will diagnose and locate circuit, component, and equipment faults in manufacturing equipment. This diagnostic skill is critical for minimizing downtime and ensuring that production runs smoothly and efficiently.
Required Experience and Skills
To be successful in this position, candidates should have experience in:
- Blow moulds
- Plastics patternmaking
- Jigs and fixtures
Additional skills that would be beneficial include knowledge of CAD/CAM software, precision measurement tools, and various machining techniques. Experience with plastic manufacturing processes would be a significant advantage.
