Work Schedule
This position requires flexibility in scheduling, with availability needed during morning, day, evening, and weekend shifts. The exact schedule will be determined based on operational needs and client requirements. Our technicians work on-site at various locations throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas, providing essential telecommunications services to our diverse client base.
Required Experience
Candidates must demonstrate proven experience in the following areas:
- Telephone system installation, maintenance, and repair
- Telecommunication system troubleshooting and service
- Telecommunication service testing and quality assurance
- Telecommunications equipment operation and maintenance
- Working with both analog and digital telephone systems
Key Responsibilities
As a Telephone Technician at Ambience Security System, your primary responsibilities will include:
System Maintenance and Testing
You will be responsible for inspecting and testing cable signals and associated telecommunications equipment. This includes verifying proper operation, identifying potential issues, and conducting routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance of all systems under your care.
Fault Diagnosis and Repair
Diagnosing and locating equipment faults is a critical aspect of this role. You will need to accurately determine the nature, cause, and location of trouble in telecommunications systems, including telephone lines, cables, and associated hardware. Once identified, you will adjust, replace, or repair defective components to restore service.
Equipment Installation
Installation of telephone equipment, wiring, and associated hardware is a key responsibility. This includes installing, arranging, removing, and maintaining various telecommunications components. You will also install electromechanical, analog, and digital trunking systems, circuits, and equipment in telecommunications central offices and switching centers.
Customer Service Testing
Operating computerized testing systems to conduct service tests on customer lines and equipment is an essential part of ensuring quality telecommunications service. You will analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to switching systems, networks, associated equipment, and software to maintain optimal performance.
Technical Documentation

Team Coordination
When complex issues arise that require specialized expertise, you will initiate the dispatch of appropriate repair personnel. Physical Work Requirements
This position requires the ability to climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures. You will also need to connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets as needed for installations or service upgrades. Physical fitness and comfort working at heights are essential qualifications for this role.
Internet Services Installation
As telecommunications technology evolves, you will be responsible for installing cable modems and software to enable Internet access for customers. This includes ensuring proper connectivity, configuring settings, and verifying that all components are functioning correctly to provide reliable high-speed internet service.
Infrastructure Maintenance
Repairing or replacing faulty cables, power supplies, and amplifiers is a regular part of maintaining the telecommunications infrastructure. You will identify failing components, source appropriate replacements, and perform the necessary repairs to maintain system reliability and service quality.
