Work Schedule
This position requires flexibility in work hours and may include shifts during early morning, morning, day, evening, night, and weekends. On-call availability may also be required depending on operational needs. The position is based at our Calgary facility located at 4220 67 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T3J 0N1.

Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following qualifications and requirements:
Driver’s License
A valid Class 1 or Class A driver’s license is required for this position. This license demonstrates your qualification to operate commercial tractor-trailer combinations on Canadian roads and highways.
Air Brakes Endorsement
Applicants must hold an Air Brakes Endorsement, which is essential for safely operating commercial vehicles equipped with air brake systems. This certification ensures you have the specialized knowledge required to maintain and operate these braking systems effectively.
Experience
Previous experience operating tractor-trailer vehicles is required. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in long-haul transportation, including familiarity with highway regulations, safe driving practices, and cargo handling procedures.
Key Responsibilities
As a Long Haul Truck Driver with Sealand Canada Inc., you will be responsible for a wide range of duties including:
Customer Service
You will be expected to address customers’ complaints or concerns professionally and effectively, ensuring positive customer relationships and satisfaction with our transportation services.
Team Collaboration
Occasionally, you may need to drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, requiring effective communication and collaboration with other drivers to ensure coordinated and efficient transportation operations.
Loading and Unloading
The position involves loading and unloading goods at various locations. You must be capable of handling different types of cargo and ensuring proper securing and protection during transit.
Vehicle Operation
You will operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently across various routes and distances.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection
Regular inspection and maintenance of your vehicle is crucial. You will oversee the condition of your vehicle, inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment to ensure roadworthiness and safety compliance.
Financial Transactions
You may be required to pay and receive payments for goods during transit, handling financial transactions accurately and professionally while maintaining proper documentation.
Emergency Repairs
The ability to perform emergency roadside repairs when necessary is an important aspect of this role. You should be prepared to address mechanical issues that may arise during long-haul trips.
Preventive Maintenance
Performing preventive maintenance on your vehicle is essential to prevent breakdowns and ensure safe operation. This includes regular checks and maintenance tasks as per company guidelines and manufacturer recommendations.
Documentation and Reporting
You will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled and fuel consumption. Accurate documentation is critical for regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Cargo Security
Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo is a key responsibility. You must properly secure all loads to prevent damage or loss during transit.
Communication
As a driver, you will receive and relay information to central dispatch, maintaining clear communication channels to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and address any operational issues that may arise.
Professional Development
Experienced drivers may have opportunities to coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques, sharing their expertise and contributing to the professional development of our team.
